my eyes have seen...

So, where have I been?
Nowhere and everywhere.

I have finally gotten my new progressive lens glasses and believe you me, they take some getting used to. I took them to the movies with me while I gazed at George Clooney staring at goats and dispensing advice of air travel. I took them off and replaced them with cool 3D glasses for A Christmas Carol and Avatar. I have been practising with them by watching tv and reading at the same time. Reading a new Grisham and the first Steig Larsson. I can't put either one down just yet. Watching marathons where I went to The Office in Pennsylvania and Florida with The Golden Girls. Then I discovered a way to watch almost anything from television on the internet (ninjavideo) so I caught up with the dark side of Florida with Dexter and balanced it out with a bit of Glee. There was another charming bit of Dickens with a rather young Derek Jacobi in Little Dorrit for eight straight hours. Then some more time travel with Mad Men and finally with the End of the Time Lord himself with Dr Who.

At least my eyes muscles got some exercise.
I am exhausted.
Even though it is still rather cold here, it has warmed up enough for me to venture out for a coffee. Where there is a fireplace, to finish my book. Where I may practice writing while wearing my new glasses.

  6. Hi, I have progressives, I need new ones again. Sometimes it takes a while to get used to them...sometimes it is the lens material that your eyes can not adjust too..I used to work in the Optical field. Good luck with them.
    Happy New Year.

  7. Cinner: the last pair I had I think were in too small a lens. then, within months, my eyesight had changed so that I couldn't tell which pair were the regular distance and which were the progressives! it is getting better - I just have to come to terms with the fact that I can only 'read' through a small square and not the whole lens (I think that really is the hardest part)

  8. We saw Up in the Air Saturday night. And reading this made me realize that the last movie we went to was the other GC movie. He's pretty good eh? Sounds you are breaking in your new glasses in a good way.

  10. LOL!! That's a lot of "watching", girlfriend!!

It took me about ten days to adjust to progressive lenses, but once I did I loved them and still do. Hubby and I both ordered new glasses last week. My new ones are a little more narrow, but the optician assures me they will work with the PL. We'll see!

  11. I've been wearing my progressive lenses lately too so I don't have to reach for reading glasses. I don't like having ot wear glasses of any sort.

  12. Susan: I know, but it was easier than getting used to them while walking, don't you think?

  13. SAW: I never minded wearing them, but once I got out of the habit, it has become harder to like them now.

  14. Oh yes! Walking is a toughie! And driving, because looking to the side w/o turning one's head no longer works!
