day five

Is it not poor manners
for someone who has locked them self inside
an excessively air conditioned house
to be complaining about the heatwave
(and the smog and humidity
that came with it)?

  1. Air conditioning can never be excessive.

  2. It is also bitterly ironic since their excessively air-conditioned house has contributed to these extreme temperatures.

  3. So we have finally getting some sun and that brings on the too much heat. A Grandson and I worked outside for a bit--cleaning up after hedge trimming and it was VERY hot so I did go inside and got some water and turned on the AC. Sometimes I spoil myself. LOL

BTW: I didn't but any wood carving, not that I didn't want anything--have you seen the prices on them? Yowzer! MB

  4. It is only bad manners if they don't share.

  5. Definitely bad manners, she says while sitting on her non air-conditioned balcony in front of her non air-conditioned apartment....

And despite all this you'll never hear her complain, cause damn it's wonderful to finally have some summer!

  6. Well it could be construed as rude but I don't mind...as I sit in my
    AC house. LOL!
But I too am glad it is summer!!
    Woohoo

  7. That´s like a skinny person complaining about how fat they are... :)

  8. Scott: I had goosbumps for several minutes when I walked in her front door. then I had to go out into what felt like a blast furnace.
    that is too much A/C
A comfortable setting of 22C/72F is fine.

  9. XUP: exactly!
I have a small window A/C and even if I wanted to, I could not sit on my balcony for the heat coming out of it! and then there is all the moisture added to the air...

  10. MB: when it is this hot, A/C is good. it just doesn't need to be set at below 68F and it doesn't need to be on in every room in your 8 room house when you are all alone.
    imho

  11. Gail: ha, well, I did stay inside for as long as was polite....

  12. Jazz: as much as you hate snow in winter, I hate humidity and smog in summer.

  13. SueAnn: I don't mind the complaining - afterall it is VERY hot and has been for days (and nights), but only if you have actually had to walk in it, or work in it.
I am loving the sunshine and the late light nights.

  14. Betty: no concept at all, have they?!

  15. Don't know - down here AC is often quite necessary.

  17. I think it's rude when you consider how many people have to go out and work in it. I'd say that person is pretty selfish.

  18. All things in moderation. I enjoyed your 'having fun in the sun' post. The tall ships are amazing, aren't they, particularly if you're sailing alongside them.

  19. One should always complain about weather and excessive heat gets top priority.

  20. SAW: yes, A/C is necessary, but if you are comfortable inside with it on and and hadn't been outside in two days then you forfeit your right to complain to someone who has been out in it in order to get to your house.

Nora: it has even been hot overnight, but today it rained and we are a bit cooler. only a bit, mind.

Jabblog: thanks, I love the idea of sailing more than the actual sailing bit, I think!

Geewits: I think complaining about the weather is an unthinking human condition.

  21. I think of it more as a commonality that everyone understands. I love that old expression, "Everyone complains about the weather but no one ever does anything about it."

  22. Only supermarkets have air conditioning over here.
Sometimes it seems quite chilly in there after a while.
Seems selfish and wasteful to cool 8 rooms when only one is needed at any time.

  23. Some complain about everything, some suffer in silence and some just go with the flow. I'm always a little surprised that people forget that summer is hot and winter is cold and I believe it is nice to live where it changes every few weeks. Love your post on fun in the sun, especially the tall ships. Thanks for your comment on Winston. We thoroughly enjoyed his (and little brother's) visit. They both are a bundle of energy.

  24. There, there...it's alright. We each have to complain about something. ;-)
