  2. Delwyn: yes, it is. always 'celebrated' on the Monday before May 24, and is also known as May 2-4 long weekend, or 24th of May long weekend.

  3. Then it's the weekend before our Memorial Day, which is also when summer begins. Generally celebrated with cook-outs.

  4. On the 21st we celebrate ascension day and it is a national holiday and so is the following day for some reason. So we have a four day weekend. Totally unnecessary to me, but there you go.

Have a happy Victoria Day. She was good for something then.

  6. Sure didn't feel like summer this weekend, but that's okay. As long as I don't have to go to work, I'm happy. (how long until we can retire?)

I haven't checked the lottery ticket someone bought me, but I'm ready, anytime...

  9. Sorry, but the whole "first weekend of summer" thing is a crock. It was frigid this weekend!!!

And it's not Victoria day in Quebec, Victoria being an evil Anglo and all. It used to be Dollard day, some obscure alcoholic French guy that saved a fort by killing tons of Indians by a total fluke. Now it's Patriot's day. Who the hell knows what it'll be next year.

  10. Love it. Usually I try to get a few plants in on Victoria Day but this year it is too cool. Maybe next week I will get some and let them harden off under the porch and maybe, just maybe I will be able to plant them by June!

  11. Definitely did NOT feel summery here, either!

    Notice I said "unofficial".

  12. I never liked Queen Victoria much, too puritan for me. But I do like the literature of her time. Anyway, here in the UK it is not really summery either, it is always cold and rainy. Last real summer we had was in 2006.
