There is a lot of construction noise around me. The balconies are being replaced and even though the work has started on the other side of the building the noise vibrates right through.
I refuse to complain, as it is desperately needed and will look wonderful when the new railings go up.
In the meantime, management has quietly left these for us....
I am here to tell you that they do not work all that well.
I guess sometimes the end justifies the means and its worth putting up with disruption. When my neighbour built an extension he did a lot himself, which meant evenings and weekends !!! Just when you wanted to relax.

Oh dear. That sort of noise is awful, so let's hope they get it all done quickly and your relative peace and quiet will resume. People need peace and quiet!
ReplyDeleteThat's kind of funny. I've never fond earplugs to be all that helpful.
ReplyDeleteI suppose it will be worth it in the end but it must be hard to put up with in the meantime. Do you have to sleep through this after you get done with your nighttime job?
ReplyDeleteThose yellow earplugs don't look like they would fit any ear very well. I guess the intention was good, though. I suppose it's the least management could do. They do have a sense of humor.
RJR: I think I would prefer to put up with pros than the DIYers who would be a bit slower and less confident with their hammering.
ReplyDeletePersiflage: I suppose we are a little fortunate in that it started months later than planned (blame the city for the permits problem!) but I wonder how far they will get before it gets too cold.
SAW: a free ipod would have been a better choice
Nora: they don't seem to start too early in the morning, so I get some sleep. and there are long pauses in between the drilling.
those foam earplugs squish into the ear and mold to the shape. I don't like to re-use.
Very nice attitude towards something which was needed!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. And thanks for visiting and taking the time to comment;o)
¤ Have a nice and happy weekend ¤
It's times like these that I am glad to have my Ipod. Pop in the ear buds and crank that beautiful music. Hope you love the new renovations when the work is finished!
ReplyDeleteConstruction noises can be really tiresome, for sure. I like your glass half full attitude about it. New railings, yay!
ReplyDeleteMildred: it is easier this way, I think
ReplyDeleteDeeDee: I don't have an ipod, but I'm thinking about it now!
Betty: the really funny part is that there was no notice about them, you had to know they were there!
Geewits: they will be plexiglas railing (so we are told) and I am excited about that and no more rust!
