dreaming of ...?

When I woke up, I was editing a story in my head. A post about ... something. I remember it was witty, because at one point I also woke up laughing at my wittiness. My dream swirled and morphed and bounced around (as dreams do). It somehow involved Chatelaine magazine. And then it suddenly occurred to me that I should have a photo to go with my post. I actually got out of bed and looked up Chatelaine to find an cover photo to illustrate my witty post about ... something. Then I searched for my post.

Of course, there was no post. Not in drafts. Not even in my head anymore.

I'm going back to search my pillow. Maybe it is there.

In the meantime, here is a look at Chatelaine magazine. It is essentially Canadian and used to be much more important than it is now.

Oh, damn, now I really wish I remembered my dream.

  1. That happens to me all the time. Just as I'm falling asleep I'll have a brilliant idea. Next day? Gone.

Or in the shower... and by the time I've dried myself off... gone!

As for Chatelaine, I've been reading both the French and English versions for years.

  2. Oooh Jazz is biliterate. I wonder if she's told her parents and friends.

  3. Don't you hate when that happens? About a year ago, I dreamed about an idea for a short film. I literally woke up laughing, and was about to go back to sleep, thought better of it, and wrote down the idea. I have the script now, and am having it reviewed by some director friends of mine.

Here's hoping they laugh as much as I did.

  4. Bandobras: I hope she's prepared for the fallout when mr jazz reads this.

Jazz: I haven't looked at Chatelaine in years, though I used to read it all the time before it went a little 'fluffy'. But now that I see Jamie is on the cover...

Mr Nighttime: what is really funny is that I truly thought I had already written it down!

  5. I do that a lot too - I used to keep a notebook by the bed but have stopped doing it. Maybe I should go back to doing that.

    Maybe you should too?

  6. Well, Sanna, you know you've got it bad when you dream you have written a post! LOL That one hasn't happened to me yet, but I'm sure it will. I'm sort of blogged down this week, so maybe my dreams will give me some inspiration.

  7. I don't believe a word of it. I think you just couldn't think of anything to blog about but then thought you'd better blog or everyone will think you've moved to France without them so then you came up with this clever scheme to pretend you had a dream about a post but then for got it. Then you tossed in some random magazine cover for colour. That's what I think.

  8. I laughed when you mentioned laughing in your sleep. I was once dreaming and laughing in a very cute and lyrical manner and woke myself up and I was snorting like a pig.

  10. Char: I do actually keep a notebook by my bed - it is a pen I keep forgetting to leave nearby.

Susan: my dreams have been great lately. probably boring to write about (or for you to read) but enjoyable for me.

XUP: that is the beauty of this - no-one knows where you actually are.

  11. Geewits: oh that is embarrassing, even if no-one else hears you. done that, too.

Oliag: usually when that happens, I have no idea what I am laughing about.

  12. I've dreamt that someone has left a comment that reveals all sorts of embarrassing information about my personal life and before i can delete it, everyone else has read and commented on the comment. Gah! I was happy to get to my computer and find it ws just a dream.

  13. I've had amazing thoughts in my head, usually lines for a poem, and I am positive I'll remember them when I get up later, but then I don't. Some people keep a little notebook by their bed to write down dreams. But jeez, I'd had to wake my partner up . . .

  14. You have a more than vivid imagination. This is totally fascinating and worth looking into some more. Does it happen to you often? That you dream something and it becomes a reality memory? Sometimes I don't remember if I dreamed something or if it really happened. My memory plays tricks on me.

  15. Citizen: that sounds like the 21st century version of finding yourself naked in front of an auditorium, *shudder*

Ruth: sometimes, I do write my amazing thoughts down. many times I can't read my writing.

Irene: I don't think this has ever happend before. I'll be on the lookout for a repeat performance before I get worried.
