it is still bitterly cold outside, and I have spent the day drinking tea and sitting by the fire

I found this on an impromptu stop at an antique shop where everything was on sale
and even though it is not my style of mid-century modern or art deco,
I just had to have it
In the first photo it looked like a real fireplace and I thought what a neat thing to have in your apartment and what a luxury. Tou sure had me fooled.
ReplyDeleteI've lived in two apartments with fireplaces - one that was not safe and therefor decorative and another that was electric and had a very nice mantel. I loved having a mantel for putting clocks and candles and such on top of.
DeleteI love it.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what era it is from, but I think it might be German.
DeleteI've never seen anything else like it.
Love your fire - how do you heat your place really though?
ReplyDeleteI don't feel too sorry for Oprah - she can afford furs and other luxuries.
we have baseboard heating - and no control over it. because I am on a lower floor and face west, it is often far too hot in the winter.
DeleteHa. Had me fooled too. I've been sweltering in the garden, getting weeding done before Aftermas. But I'm insode now. It's too hot to work in the middle of the day...
ReplyDeleteyes, mad dogs and Englishmen and all that!
Deleteinside.
ReplyDeleteThat is one gorgeous stove!! So orate!

Wish I could stay by the fire and drink tea. How about drinking tea in front of the computer? Not as good... but something at least!
ReplyDeleteYour fire-clock is an interesting addition. I feel warmer looking at it. :)
Sweet little fire! We are spending time by the fire too.. bitterly cold out!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool clock. It's chilly here and we are drinking coffee (decaf) tonight.
ReplyDeleteThat is a cool clock. When the object speaks, we must listen.
