Above is a Chinese Year of the Snake postcard letter that arrived on Friday, just in time for our Chinese stamp theme
I wish I knew how to find out the stories behind these stamps....
these two spring like stamps arrived in January
and Postcrosser Juli wrote that it was -11C and snowy
It is interesting to note that among the 25 postcards I've received from China there is not one duplicate on the stamps!
No pretty. I love my foreign stamps.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing - the stamps are beautiful. Chinese post office really put a lot of thoughts and pride into their stamps.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week,
TOTA
That snake on the first stamp looks like very amiable and that it won't bite at all. I love the way the artist of that stamp presented the snake in a unique manner.
ReplyDeleteAll of these are new to me; mine are old and boring in comparison.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful selection of stamps.
ReplyDeleteI like that snake hiding in the foliage. I wonder if the first stamp is a phoenix, whatever it is its beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMost China stamps have their year on, (apart from new year greeting and the like) and there is a stamp seller site that lists them under years with full details of what they are at http://www.xabusiness.com.
Your Year of the Snake postcard is still stuck to my refrigerator and will be there forever. It's got a good magnet holding it in place. Is participating in Post Crossings a very expensive hobby?
ReplyDeleteThe artwork on these is so delicate.
ReplyDeleteI get some cards from China via Postcrossing, but I have not seen these! there must be many stamps issued by the Chinese post office every year. I first looked at your post on my ipad mini - so much better to see it full sized on a big laptop.
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed at the variety of stamps produced by China. Like you I rarely know what they represent but I'll follow up the link given by Joy.
ReplyDeletegreat collection - i cannot count my chinese postcards there are so many, but i also rarely get a duplicate :)
ReplyDeleteI think China have lots of beautiful stmaps selections and you choose few of the best looking ones.
