Cranky is as cranky does! I have no idea what that means, but it sounds good, doesn't it? Gee, I wish I were Canadian, because right there is where "eh?" is perfectly concise instead of the clumsy and cumbersome "doesn't it?". Let's see, where was I....
Oh yeah, I hate those commercials, too. Really strikes a nerve. Don't hate them as much as the Cialis/Levitra/Viagra ones though. They're an abomination to tired, middle-aged wives everywhere!
Haha, every time THOSE ads come on TV my kids hoot with laughter and suggest we buy some "for gran to see if it really works"...no doubt it will be their kids hooting about me one day. I certainly hope so, bags, cracks, wrinkles and all!! cheers, Amanda
I use my mute button for many of them to avoid getting riled up. Remember when there used to be commercials that were entertaining? Where did they all go?
Violetsky, there is an ad that makes me laugh out loud every time I see it. It's here on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kK6F7t-x6E The best part is when its eye falls off.
So what happened to the trend towards glorifying older women? I mean, was Ashton Kutcher's choice of a much older Demi Moore completely lost on the consumer public? I would have thought that this would have been picked up by some out-of-the-box thinking entrepreneur that could make the most of "women of a certain age."
Well, Mr Nighttime, some seem to think that having Ellen as the new face of CoverGirl is a step towards appreciating older women - but doesn't she look younger in those ads??
Geewits: Nannerpuss? Okay, maybe I'm missing something, but after looking into it, I see it is apparently loved by many. Never been to a Denny's, so am guessing there's more to it. But, I've got that 15 second jingle in my head now!
Mr. Nighttime - If Demi Moore is an older woman then I'll eat my kitchen cupboards. What that whole scenario and the Ellen Covergirl ads are saying is that older women are beautiful and great as long as they look 25 years younger than their actual age.
Wasn't it Jamie Lee Curtis who was on the cover of [Vogue?] a few years ago and refused to wear makeup or have her photo touched up? She was only in her 40's and not old, but looked like herself.
And annoying as the ads were, I miss Bea Arthur shilling for Shoppers Drug Mart
Oh I hate those ads too! Turn TV to mute and still have to watch sylph-like creatures wafting across the screen! But today I AM cranky! Us oldies are allowed to be now and then ;)
Why the wall, Violet Sky? Its a lovely wall, though, with cracks and crevices for wildlife.
Stupid ads! Pi## on them! I hope that didn't sound cranky.

Because there is no snow on the wall.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours.
I couldn't find any good flowers to replace the snow covered dogwood branches.
There's no snow on the wall ... oh I mentioned that already!
OMG I love it!!
