SundayStills - happiness is

Those of you who read this regularly know that I work nights.
My quitting one of my jobs last month didn't pan out quite as expected, well, not as planned.
And trying to be helpful for a friend this past week hasn't been as good an idea as I thought.

But,

Happiness is...
one of the bonuses of working nights is seeing the sunrise as I am finishing and heading home. A sunrise over the water. A view that, sadly, is threatened with development. So, every time I get to wander through to this favourite spot, I am happy.

Happiness is...
a nap in a warm, sunny spot, with my favourite chenille throw
(and my cat Abby)

Happiness is...
hanging out with someone beloved where you can be yourself

Happiness will be a far flung family getting together for a feast and a gathering and a housewarming...
but that is next weekend for Thanksgiving (Canadian style)

  4. Some days/weeks are just like that, unfortunately. But it's the little things, like your cozy spot, nature, animals and those who you hold dear, that make it all worth it...and make you happy.
    Thanks for sharing :)
    Your photos were lovely.

  12. Happiness, even ephemeral and despite unexpected difficulties is still happiness. :-)

I love the sunrise picture; it's a perfect counterpoint to my sunset pictures!

  19. It doesn't take a lot to make me happy either, and those are wonderful examples of happiness-inducing objects. That sunrise is gorgeous!

What are you making for Thanksgiving dinner, my friend?

  23. Thanks, Shirley and Robin, the difficulties should end by Friday. It will make me all angry again to think about it, Geewits, but maybe by the end of the week...

Thank you Ed, Steffie, Sara, Marleen, Chloe.

Thanks, Janice, and maybe a little too serene for you Tammy?!

  24. I'll let Abby know you like her, Gilly. And she is a bit of a heavy beast - but not fat - as I always say she has thick ankles so is just sturdy. But, I guess you mean "thick" as in the Scottish for "dimwitted" or "stupid", Lena.

And she spends most of her time napping, so sharing a nap with her is easy, Jazz, though not often on my lap either, Oliag.

There came a point when I said "screw it, I need to admire this sunrise", and am glad I did and that you get to enjoy it too, Ebie, June.

This challenge was good for remembering the good things, Lisa, SAW.

Thanks, flowerweaver and yes, the second Monday in October is our Thanksgiving, Nivin
and I don't know yet what I'm bringing, Susan.

  26. The best-laid plans of mice and men go oft awry. But sometimes "awry" turns out for the best. I hope the best turns out for you!

  27. You caught these swans both with a peculiar neck position. Hope you can eventually wrinkle out the creases in your job situation:)

  28. Thanks, Gina.
Jeannette, those swans were doing quite the dance in the water, I'll post some more photos of the pair later. and XUP, too, I just heard on the news about the National Post being under bankruptcy protection - that certainly adds a new wrinkle to part of the job situation!
