it's winter again

I have plans to go away for the weekend. A friend has a cottage that I have been invited to use and she suggested that I might want to go in the winter for something different. Yes, I would. I jumped at the chance to see Lake Huron at its worst wintry fury. To see lots of white snow along the trails of the Saugeen River. Scheduling and sickness made it difficult to get away earlier so I was resigned to seeing mostly a big, muddy mess. But, with lots of spring birds returning. Maybe a few flowers peeping out of the ground. I dug out my birding and wildflowers books to take with me.

Now it is snowing. A winter/spring storm coming in from Iowa.
Fifteen centimetres. (yeah, don't worry, you from the US, I have no real idea how much that is either)

I was happily resigned to that muddy mess. Really, I was.

  3. Yeah, on the 6:30 am news this morning, I was rather surprised to hear about your snowstorm. Not that I'm an expert on Eastern Canadian weather or anything, but isn't this a little late to be having a major snowstorm?

  4. 15 Centimeters of snow is more than enough to be impressed with. I'm glad it's you and not me. We are having a glorious day today. Sunshine all over the place. Have fun in your cottage. Enjoy your white weekend.

  5. I have just come in from work and it is a mess out there. Apart from the heavy, wet, snow falling, there is also a wind warning.

Oh well, better now than later, or the whole getaway would have been postponed again.

  8. Enjoy your weekend:-)
I loved the photos from the flower show. Spring seems to have arrived here in UK - well, for the last couple of days, at least! Daffodils, violets, frogspawn, birds nesting - it's all happening - hurrah!
Good luck with your new bed. It sounds as though you deserve it. I agree, futons are a pig to turn.

  9. Hopefully spring sunshine and birds, and flowers will ride this spell of white. The idea of a cottage, and books on birds and flowers, and the outdoors is alluring.
