Sunday Stamps - writing

The Chinese stamps often are filled with characters that say I have no idea what,
commemorating some special event.

  1. Chinese characters never fail to amaze me. I try writing a few but it's always a struggle with just a single character. And yeah, I never get to understand a single one of them, too! But still, they always remain, amazing.

    1. it is frustrating to not be able to find out anything on the internet about these stamps, either.

  2. The characters are beautiful, but (alas) meaningless, and it is too late for me to even think about learning their meaning.

  4. I'm always in awe of Chinese calligraphy with meanings in the strokes. I recognise the last one which is a Happy New Year stamp.

  6. I like the top one too. I have received the bottom one once before, on a Postcrossing postcard. Thanks for participating.

  8. I particularly like the first but they are all lovely. I did try writing someone's name in characters a week or so ago. It was like learning to write all over again.

  9. I presume that the writing that appears down the side on each stamp says China so we can learn something this way. Three (or 6 depending how you want to count) fine stamps

  10. Whenever I get mail, which is occurring increasingly seldom as the internet takes over, I always check the stamps plus I very carefully select stamps when I mail anything personal. Have always loved stams and these you have shown are fantastic.

  11. Whenever I see Chinese characters, I think that I couldn't learn to write using it. If are more together, my conviction increases. :) Very beautiful stamps.
