Sunday Stills - motion

Sometimes, Life gets in the way of having fun
We run and run, trying to get away
Sometimes, Life is the fun
we run and run to keep up

and when we reach the finish line

it should be with a joyous smile and laughter and a feeling of pride.
(cheering on my friend Sylvie, on her first half marathon.
she's not in these shots, but had a great finish time!)
see SundayStills for more photos on this week's theme of motion

  1. Great metaphor. Although for the lige of me I don't understand how anyone enjoys running.

  3. Neither do I, Citizen, but Sylvie was very happy with her accomplishment and I was proud of her.

  6. Thanks, CTG, I was puffing as I walked over to the finish line to make sure I was there to greet her... sad, I know.

  8. VioletSky, it was soooo nice to see you there! I felt so good going in, strong and confident. All these months of training (been training since early December) paid off big time. I reached my goal!

I'm resting now, legs are a bit sore but nothing out of the ordinary. I can't wait to repeat it in Montreal in September. Thanks again for mentioning me!

  10. UA: I'm sorry I missed getting you in any of the shots. It was fun being on the sidelines!!

  11. Good action shots, and this is how I like to run - with camera in hand, coffee nearby, and other people doing the hard part!

  13. I' not a runner - infact, if I miss a bus I just wait for the next one...BUT lots of people enjoy it and doing marathons is never easy so good on you for being a good friend.

  17. J9, we can stand together :)

That would have been so much fun, Geewits!

  18. ...and there is just so much to say, Sagittarian and lots of time to get it out, while we're standing around waiting for the bus!

I used to run, but somehow lost the spirit, Crystal, and don't particularly feel a need to rush after it.

Like you, Ed, I prefer to walk leisurely with camera in hand.

  19. Love your running shots; my sis did her first half marathon last year with two friends. Go sis! (You'll never catch me running, I don't enjoy it at all!)

  20. I can't even imagine running that far.......but chasing a horse that far, probably another story. LOL

  21. Great! I almost used photos from some of my husband's races. Nothing like a pack of runners to show motion.

  22. It seems to be a popular sport, Oz Girl.

Kylie, I think she's still on that "high"!

  23. Now that would be some pacer, R R!

I liked that they weren't racing too fast, C C!

    Thanks, F F F.

  24. great photos.. in the first one I started o think it was another 'funny' post with teh walking sign! Good on them, I don't run, but I did power walk a marathon a few years back which was great fun!

  25. Katie, I used to walk very quickly, but power walking looks too strenuous!

p.s. hope you weren't disappointed at the non-funniness!)
