Chocolate at the RBG

Driving past the botanical gardens the other week, I saw these enticing signs

and knew I would need to renew my membership immediately...

all you ever wanted to know about chocolate lies ahead - from identifying the trees and pods, to the ancient Aztec times, to the slave trade, to the European salons, to the growth of chocolate during the war, to its modern health benefits and uses...

to chocolate making demonstrations

 and taste testing
to fanciful decor
It's on until April. Come and enjoy
another choice of ABC Wednesday in Burlington

  3. Though not a chocaholic myself, I do seem to have helped breed some, who would all love such an exhibition.

  6. That is a pretty box of chocolates, I would like to pick out the walnut one. I would guess the shop at the end of the exhibition will be busy.

  10. If anybody got me chocolate for Valentine's Day, I'd slowly strangle them. I'd expect a better gift than that.

  16. don't get too excited about the tasting - unless you like really bitter chocolate! the first taste was almost 100% and the next (with a lot of sugar added) was about 80%

  17. What an interesting post. Most people love chocolate and this place looks as though it would cater for chocoholics! Great photos...

  18. I almost wish I lived in Burlington! (I say almost, because as a born-and-bred Westerner, we are schooled very young to hate Ontario. It's tough to go against a hundred years of conditioning.)

  19. Mmmm. My mother gave us a make-your-own chocolate kit for Christmas which I'm looking forward to trying out.
