Mr Nighttime: Most definitely a Canadian thing. The weather in these parts is better, warmer and slightly more dependable in October. It is closer to harvest. The fruit is bountiful. The apples and pumpkins and squash and ready to be pillaged. And it gives us a much needed longer break between the turkey and family stuff of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
