I have around 370 newspaper customers.
That alone requires a lot of Christmas card signing.
My dining table has been cleared.
More warm apple cider is in the crock pot.
The Trans Siberian Orchestra discs are in the cd player.
Two new roller pens are at the ready.
Cards and envelopes are in piles.
a bit of snow would help.....
I know this probably sounds stupid... but I love addressing envelopes.. wish I was there to help you...
ReplyDeleteGwen: it would be fun to do this together!
ReplyDeleteAddressing them may be fun; licking however....
ReplyDeleteYour customers are lucky to have such a kind and thoughtful carrier to bring them their daily paper. Can you move to Montreal?
Wow! And I thought my 60-card list was big! My hand and wrist wouldn't be able to handle a list that long. I would also require something a little stronger than cider! I usually watch a Christmas movie while I address mine. I used to watch Little Women (the Winona Ryder one), but the tear stains caused a lot of questions. :)
ReplyDeleteMr Jazz: erm, move ... to Montreal? ... in winter? ...
ReplyDeleteNO.
and I don't actually address the cards, I just sign them.
and no licking either, very lazy.
Oh, I forgot! Your new header picture is so beautiful! It's perfect in its simplicity.
ReplyDeleteSusan: I just sign and stick them in with their newspaper ...
ReplyDeleteBut, there are still about 80 or so to my patients that do get addressed.
I need happy music or movies when doing such mundane tasks, otherwise I end up curled in a ball wrapped in a chenille throw, abandonning all hope...
Susan: thank you! exactly why I changed it from another ornamental theme
ReplyDeleteI hope you got a good deal on the cards. That can represent a lot of money. Good luck signing them all. Pretty ornament. Very 60's.
ReplyDeleteYou sound like you have a really nice life. I am envious right now. I had a pig of a day at work.
ReplyDeleteDo you have the brace ready for when the carpal tunnel syndrom sets in? 370 Christmas cards? Omigosh, you're a brave woman!
ReplyDeleteI love the banner on your blog...
Irene: Oh yes, only the nicest of the cheapest!
ReplyDeleteXUP: It has its moments. Sorry your week has been brutal.
ReplyDeleteJo: The signature on the first card looks nothing like the one on the last!
ReplyDeleteActually, I only do a few at a time - it's early still
It's hot work here doing the Christmas cards...today it was 23 degrees at 8.30 in the morning and it is still too hot now at 9.30pm.
ReplyDeleteMy list has got smaller over the years, I cut down sending to people I live in the same town as and see everyday. Must be my Scottish blood....
370????!!! That's insane. Well, good luck. Seriously, how do you deliver 370 newspapers in one night?
ReplyDeleteGeewits: If I had room in my car for a passenger, I'd invite you along for the ride!
ReplyDeleteI'm fortunate that with these two routes I have several apartment buildings and some more buildings that are just numbered and lobby dropped.
It is very tiring.
Sagittarian: I don't think I could ever wrap my head around a summer Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you don't have to address all the envelopes. My wrists wouldn't make it either (like Susan).
ReplyDeleteI love the header image too!!!! Blue is one of my favorite Christmas colors.
Ruth: I have address labels - somewhere (for my address)
ReplyDeleteBlue Christmas! I've never liked red and green as a colour combo, which is why I haven't liked too many Christmas decorations!
Good luck with the card signing.
ReplyDeleteI like that ornament, too. I like ivory, dark green and a burgundy red as Christmas colors.
CotW: I'm enjoying the new purple/plum colour for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI went to a Christmas service at a very cool church one year, with my friend who had just found out she had breast cancer. The church has a Blue Christmas service one evening Christmas week for those who wish to go, be quiet, listen, and be together, especially those who are blue for whatever reason. It was a wonderful experience. And I had to smile as we walked into the beautiful small, round sanctuary with stained glass all around, candlelit, and the organist was playing Elvis' "Blue Christmas."
ReplyDeleteSorry to sound thick but what exactly is a newspaper customer. What exactly do you do for them.
ReplyDeleteKen
Ken: I deliver newspapers door to door (in my car) starting at 2 am so that your paper is lying on your doorstep or mailbox by 6 am. The xmas cards remind these people that there is a real person getting up in the middle of the night no matter the weather...a shamelss act for tips and gratuities!
ReplyDeletethat is a lovely idea - I have still to sort cards this year - in fact I have to get myself going o this one.. or it's not going to happen!!
ReplyDeleteLove the muled cider idea - would be good right now!
