SundayStills - landscape

Let's face it, the landscape isn't very lush at this time of year.
Dull, muddy browns and greys abound.

And, unfortunately, this is also a part of the landscape around here

It's a bit hard to see in this light, but that is the lake beyond.
The waterfront parkland will soon be filled in with another huge 9 storey condo building.
Sigh.

  1. Great shots...the landscape is pretty drab around here these days, isn't it?! :) Wonderful submissions this week!

  2. It is drab and raining in RI today too...you still managed to capture some nice photos!...It always depresses me about the development going on everywhere too..especially along waterways that everyone should be able to enjoy...

  3. Andrea: it was indeed a challenge.

Oliag: thank you. I feel a little more depressed every time one of these signs go up.

  4. rain should end for a couple days here today - I'm trying to think of someplace new to take pictures

  5. I think you did great for the drab landscapes you have. I have that about the condos. It's like the ranches getting cut up around here with 5 acre home sites. Just sad.

  6. Oh, I hate to hear about the high rises. That's a shame.

We are just now coming into really green landscape.

  7. Char: We are finally getting some rain today - so some green will follow!

The Wife: Sad and Angry. Thanks, I'll revisit the same spots in 3 moinths to show the difference.

  8. Citizen: and I feel for the people across the street who lose their view.

  9. It's a shame when everything is turned into a development. How do we stop these people? Nature is at the loosing end and so are beautiful spots and views and trees that need to get cut down. The same thing happens over here.

  10. Irene: and no one is happy about it, except the developers and the people who move in, never thinking about what has been lost.

  11. It's a toss up as to what is more depressing; the snow out my window, or the prospect of a high rise out your window!

  12. It's dull & grey here in NY also.

  16. Same issues at the Antwerp riverbanks:
rich and powerful developers are busy making sure
the waterfront is currently being filled in with huge condo buildings.

Antwerp's city slogan reads "This town belongs to everyone",
provided "everyone" has large amounts of cash...

  17. It's good when a bit of colour starts to appear to drown out the dullness of winter months.

  22. Peter: I do wonder where some of this vision comes from. Then again, I think it must all be money driven.

  23. Crystal: oh, please come soon, colour - we miss you!

  24. Ed: There you go - one less challenge to come up with!

Flo: Thanks, we all suffer from them don't we? I like that idea of no higher than a coconut tree! Too bad it went with the developers money, too.

J9: just wait til July, then!

  36. Vic Grace: though, at the moment almost anything would be better than that litter cluttered, fenced off wasteland.

Sara: what a thought-provoking insight. thank you!
