I found hat quite entertaining. :) The voice sure does talk FAST. Luckily I was already awake, having had my first cup of coffee, so I was able to follow along. :)
It's all quite simple - if you're British! Politically the term Great Britain DOES include the Hebrides and the Shetland Isles, etc - I think they got that a bit wrong. Always fun to see ourselves as others see us!
I did know the distinctions with the different countries/political entities but got a little distracted by my kids when he started getting into the empire stuff. Wonder why Canada doesn't divest itself of the British royal family? They don't seem to be of much use even in Britain. (No offense to Britain - I just find the idea of "royalty" to be bizarre.)
The United Kingdom of Great Britain. That's what I remember stamped on my passport when I visited England in 2006. There was no "and Northern Ireland." The guy talks so fast. I kind of enjoyed it, but I didn't really get everything he said.
Wow! I had no idea and this was quite fascinating! Thanks

That was great! All those islands that you only hear about in stamp collections. Lucky old Queen.
ReplyDeleteFun to listen to it all being explained. However confusion still exists. haha.

ReplyDeleteP.S. Thanks for dropping by my nook today.
Absolutely and all American tourists should have to have these facts knocked into them before landing in the UK.
