street signs - Portside

Portside is in Charlotte, Rochester, NY and, conveniently as it's name suggests, beside the port. On the map, it is Portside Dr and runs through Ontario Beach Park between Lake Ave and N River St near where the Genesee River flows into Lake Ontario
I find these over-the-street arms with the lights and street names very convenient for driving - no having to search over to both sides of the intersection to see where the street sign is located, and you can continue looking straight ahead to see the lights change (or not, as the case may be).

As you can see, there is a lighthouse on these street signs.

This is the Genesee Lighthouse
another in my irregular series of street signs

  1. Lovely old lighthouse. I see you can only turn left at this intersection. Interesting sign.

    1. You could also go straight through if you were in the right lane as we were (I was the passenger).

    2. My wife yells at me if I try to take pictures while driving. It is not a good idea.

  2. This one was interesting in that the living accommodations were completely separate. It was also hard to see unless you know where to look.

  5. I like this kind of sign too. Much clearer than what we have in the UK.

    1. It's fun when neighbourhoods have their own decoration on the signs.

  7. I'm most interested in the ones that hang above because we don't see many of those.

    1. I was quite taken with it. It is a short one - at only 40', which seems unusual to me.

  11. Nice looking street sign. It's nice when they put a logo on as decoration.
And I agree about having the lights and street signs directly in front of you - so much easier.

    1. The logos are nice - more creative than simply naming the district.
