some of you may be wondering what these are...
some of you may be wondering what these would look like...
well,
these
are
the
new
community mailboxes!
I rather like them (compared to the other ones, they are attractive)
though I did notice that there is no shelter or light
and no recycle/garbage bins at any of the locations
and
while it may be convenient to have mail picked up at the same location,
you never know just what time it will be picked up
a little something shared with signs, signs
I'm not in any rush for those to be installed.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you.
DeleteI have had the boxes for 30 years. They are not as pretty as the new ones.
ReplyDeleteI like them because...
They keep the mail secure.
The larger boxes at the bottom are for parcels. You don't have to be home to receive them.
All the junk can be returned by placing it in the letter slot.
You can mail a letter.
what about all those stories about mail getting stolen out of the boxes??
DeleteI do like the larger boxes - it saves having to go to the PO - though, many carriers will only use the notices so they can leave the parcels in the postal outlet which is very annoying.
also, our new carrier refuses to take any returned mail or outgoing mail, which is also very annoying. now I'm wishing we were getting these in our building!
Wow, that looks pretty! Our mail comes to our mailbox at the end of the drive, and if there's a package, the mailman drives to the house and brings it to the door. Pretty nice!
ReplyDeleteyou have excellent service, then!!
DeleteI see this type of decoration on the boxes that houses the controls for traffic lights. Sure beats plain gray metal. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeletethe older models were an ugly shade of brown, so yes, this is a nicer look.
DeleteThey certainly look different.
ReplyDeleteit is not a popular thing, let me tell you!
DeleteI have no idea where they are going to put these things in the dense downtown neighbourhoods. It is going to be a disaster.
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting concept. We don't have anything like that yet.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful. Whoever thought of this idea deserve a pat on the back.
ReplyDeleteMy SIGNS, SIGNS
It's about time, they decorated the backs. Lovely designs!
ReplyDeletePlease explain. I don't understand what they're for.
ReplyDeleteCanada Post is ending door-to-door delivery of the mail and soon everyone will have to go to one of these 'community' mailboxes that will be scattered around the streets instead of their front door. It is a very unpopular decision, but as Andy points out, also already done in many newer developments.
DeleteAh. Goodness.
DeleteThose are really pretty. But I'm glad you explained above. I'm spoiled - I like having my mail delivered to the box in my yard and packages left on my doorstep.
ReplyDeleteI like the decorations! Being RVers we are used to picking up at a central location ...the boxes at the park office ... But I know it is a big change for people when their neighborhoods install these instead of at the door.
